MY LENS
My name is Francesco Accetta ⇢advocate, educator, entrepreneur, soldier, and lifelong learner; privileged to have worked directly with students and families at all levels of primary and secondary education in my roles as a School Guidance-Counselor, Assistant Principal and District Director of Guidance and Counseling for the largest suburban school district in Westchester County, New York.
Over my many years I have been a student, teacher, evaluator, operations planner, to paradigm definer; privileged to lead teams and organizations at all levels of public-school education and military organizations. The sum of my experiences have shaped how I approach issues from a global perspective while remaining focused on the details. I understand the importance of collaborating with all stakeholders as educational partners to address the constant-evolving demands of improving schools. My diverse skillset affords me a keen understanding and working knowledge of the complex operational systems, combined with my formal education as an Economist affords me a unique perspective of data and the critical role it has in effective decision making and moving the organization forward.
Lastly, during my tenure as a school counselor, I was afforded the honor and privilege of being the one constant, single touch-point for all students and families on my caseload, i.e., their advocate. As with all school counselors, my approach to guidance and counseling is rooted in my experiences, each journey woven into the fabric of who I am
➺MY LENS. From the son of an Immigrant and World War II Veteran, high school exchange student living in London, joining the Army at 17, small business owner, school guidance counselor, director of guidance to husband and dad.
And though my background often differs from many of my families, being a parent is our common ground; approaching every situation following one simple principle - how would I want my child to be treated in this situation. I take serious the inherent responsibility of my position and am committed to providing strategies and insights that will make your child’s transition from high school to her/his post-secondary journey as manageable and “stress-free” as possible...
after all, you have been waiting for this moment ever since your child enter your life!
